We are pleased to announce the release of Novo Solutions' KB-Gold 2.5 and KB-Platinum 2.5.  The appropriate version upgrade is FREE to all current customers with Annual Support.  Check out the new features listed below:

New KB-Platinum 2.5 Module Available (sold as an option to KB-Platinum):

• Intranet View Only - allows another directory (i.e. kbase/intranet) to view Public AND Intranet articles without requiring a login.  This is useful for employee access (you can use Domain/Active Directory security on this directory and provide secured access to Public and Intranet Articles through Windows Authentication.

New KB-Platinum 2.5 Features:

• Searchable Attachments - MS Office & PDF attachments are now searchable.  This option must be turned on in Admin/Settings.  This feature is achieved with the integration of MS Index Server and Adobe iFilter.

• Article Review and/or Expire Date - Flag articles for a future review or expire date.

• Advanced Reporting - Filter/Sort report by department, status, last update date, access level, user, review date, hits and rate.

• User Defined Article Categories (separate from the Left Navigation) - A separate article category concept has been introduced (linked to articles through the article add/edit screen).  Articles can be related to one or more Article Categories.  These categories are also part of the new advanced search.  This option must be turned on in Admin/Settings to be available.

• Vote Popup Ratings are more descriptive

New KB-Gold 2.5 & KB-Platinum 2.5 Features:

• Improved WYSIWYG Editor with SPELL CHECK

• Enhanced Advanced Search - more powerful and easier to use

• Improved Search Results Display - Initial number of articles listed for Search Results are now limited by an Admin Setting.  Forward and Back arrows enable you to view the next set of results. 

• Improved Display of Attachments - now opened in a new browser window.

• Multi-User Article Edit Popup - if one person is editing an article and another person also tries to edit it a popup window notifies the second user of the article being edited.

• Full Unicode Support (if using MS SQL Server) - allows the KB to be used with 2 byte languages (i.e. Japanese)

• Login page automatically positions the cursor in the Login field

• Multiple Article Attachments are now displayed vertically instead of horizontally

• Left Navigation width now stays fixed (based on an Admin Setting) instead of variable.

• Better display of Long Titles that wrap to the next line

• Submit a Question now includes the Article link the user was on when they submitted the question

Additional KB-Gold 2.5 & KB-Platinum 2.5 Changes (for the techies):

• System Templates Restructured (admin.htm & user.htm) are now structured better to allow for easier banner changes and moving the Search Block around.

• Relative image references - images inserted through the new WYSIWYG Editor are now coded in the HTML with relative directory pages (i.e. admin/virtual/images/image.jpg) instead of the full URL path (i.e. http://yourserver.com/kbase/admin/virtual/images/image.jpg).  This makes a changing servers or moving the software easier).

• Better Public View Cross Linking between Articles (Admin View cross linking will be available with the next release)

• New System Requirements: Windows 2000 or higher (excluding XP Home Edition).  KB-Gold 2.5 & KB-Platinum 2.5 will NOT run on Windows NT Server.
